We Support Regalado - posts scrubbed!

Well looks like the "We Support Regalado" blog has been scrubbed of all posts.  Apparently "breaking news" is going to be announced on Monday.  Luckily, Google cached a good amount of the garbage that was posted on there.  Here are some of the posts from June and May.  I'm working on getting some more - including some of Angel Zayon's press releases with his infamous "Approved" footer.

More on Mayor Regalado's business trip to Taiwan

It appears that one of Mayor Regalado's companions on his trip to Taiwan was Mirta “Mikki” Canton, a member of the Board of Trustees at Miami-Dade College.  She's got business ties with Asia and the following two businesses registered under her name:
  • ASIAAMERICANA INTERNATIONAL, LLC
  • CHINAAMERICANA INTERNATIONAL LLC
And the following resolution which was passed  a few months ago by the Miami city commission was posted by an anonymous commenter on a certain blog:

A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION, WITH ATTACHMENT(S), BY A FOUR-FIFTHS (4/5THS) AFFIRMATIVE VOTE, AFTER A PUBLIC HEARING, PURSUANT TO SECTION 2-614 OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA, AS AMENDED ("CITY CODE"), WAIVING THE CONFLICT OF INTEREST PROVISIONS, TO ENABLE MIRTA "MIKKI" PADRON CANTON TO ENTER INTO AN AGREEMENT WITH THE CITY OF MIAMI, FOR THE PURPOSE OF SERVING AS SENIOR PUBLIC POLICY ADVISOR TO THE MAYOR.

So was this really a trip to benefit Miami or were there ulterior motives?  Still no answer on who funded the trip.  Did taxpayers pay for the trip for everyone?  Was this trip paid for by one of Mirta's companies?  Did the Taiwanese fund the trip?  If either of these last two, would it count as a gift and thus require that the appropriate paperwork be filed?

So many questions!

Mayor Regalado went on a business trip to Taiwan?

Looks like Regalado took a little 6-day trip to Taiwan.  I hope tax payer money wasn't used to fund the trip.  We'll find out soon enough...

Lets cut the perks...

The city of Miami is bleeding money and some of our elected officials and city employees are still reaping ridiculous perks, such as an $800 a month car allowance plus a $200 a month cell phone allowance.  This is outrageous.

City of Miami axpayers are hurting and cutting back just to make ends meet, but their hard earned tax dollars are being wasted on these perks.  The city should cut these perks for EVERYONE.  No exceptions.  With the salaries that some employees are bringing in, a bonus in the form of a car and cell phone allowance is just a slap in the face to all the citizens of Miami.  The rest of us have to make due with our salaries - without additional compensation.  City employees should do the same.  Heck, while they're cutting back, how about eliminating ALL take home cars and personal drivers?

So how much money is being doled out to city employees and elected officials for their cars and cell phones?  Stay tuned...
